Here are some useful knots for rigging.  As I get some free time, I'll write more specific descriptions and applications for each.  I've used most of these for antenna-related projects.  Tie and use them at your own risk; I claim no responsibility.  This page is for illustration purposes only.

 

Alpine Butterfly: good for adding a hand/foothold/tie loop that won't slip

Bowline: non-slipping loop

Figure Eight: fixed loop, requires back-up knot (barrell)

Muntermule: Controlled descent for tramming BIG stuff

Proper Harness Rigging: figure eight with a back-up barrell.

Sheet Bend: Better alternative to the Square Knot when joining 2 lengths of different diameter.

Square Knot: joining two lengths of the same or similar-sized rope

Taut Line Hitch: non-slipping but adjustable; good for temporary rope guys or downrigging

Stopper: short barrell for keeping the rope from running through the pulley.
