The N0HI (ex. K1KAA) AR-Cluster node went online in May 2008. Since
then, it has run 24/7 and is available worldwide via telnet. The
program is AR-Cluster
by AB5K. To connect,
go to start-->run-->type "telnet cluster.n0hi.net". You will then be
prompted for your callsign. Some newer versions of Windows do not
have the telnet client turned on; go to the default program list on
your control panel and enable it. If you are using an older version of N1MM logger, you will need to add my node to the list. Under "Configure telnet address, ports, etc." go to the tab with the COM ports. At the bottom, next to the drop-down list, click the "edit" button. In the callsign column, enter "N0HI" and in the address column, enter "cluster.n0hi.net". This node propagates the same spots as can be found on many other nodes. We have a connection to the backbone, as well as several passive connections to other local and worldwide nodes. Some spots are also pulled directly from DXSummit. During big contest weekends (CQWW, ARRL DX), you may find access limited, so connect early. Helpful Commands:
See the AR-Cluster command summary See the full AR-Cluster V.4 user manual Cluster Etiquette
Interpreting the Raw Stream:
N1MM Telnet connection in multi-user mode: Instead of connecting all of your stations in a multi setup using different SSID's, you can turn on N1MM logger's multi-user mode. Name your stations and set the correct IP address for each. Then, connect to a node on "Station 0". Station 0 will pipe the telnet stream into all of the other stations. This way, XX1XXX-1, XX1XXX-2, XX1XXX-3, etc. etc. don't all have to be connected. Your bandmaps will still import spots the same. About the Physical Node: The physical hardware is a Dell P4 rack-mount running off a redundant battery backup. No 2m radio is currently hooked up, but the TNC is a PK232. The last radio used was a Kenwood TR-7930. Connections at N0HI: This is here for anyone who needs to get a hold of me for any reason. The node callsign is N0HI, but you can usually find me connected as N0HI-1. I use this during contests and otherwise to keep an eye on the node. If you want to heckle the operators, all of the stations here are connected as N0HI-2 (see the N1MM multi-user mode trick above). You may also see N0HI-3; these are usually upstairs or operators' computers. If you send a message to N0HI, it will go to N0HI-1, N0HI-2, N0HI-3, etc. Support: This node is run completely at my own expense. I do not require a user fee (even for frequent users) and I do not actively solicit donations. However, if you would like to see newer and more improved features, consider making a donation.
